A Good Day
We haven't gotten many of them lately, but today is one of them. The Supreme Court has upheld our second amendment rights (albeit on a very thin margin) and overturned an attempt by Washington D.C. to ban all law-abiding citizens from owning guns that were functional. Justice Scalia, whom I am honored to be able to call a fellow Alumnus of St. Francis Xavier H.S., delivered the majority opinion (pdf), preserving our rights - at least for the time being.
... the enshrinement of constitutional rights necessarily takes certain policy choices off the table. These include the absolute prohibition of handguns held and used for self-defense in the home. Undoubtedly some think that the Second Amendment is outmoded in a society where our standing army is the pride of our Nation, where well-trained police forces provide personal security, and where gun violence is a serious problem. That is perhaps debatable, but what is not debatable is that it is not the role of this Court to pronounce the Second Amendment extinct.

I´m not citizen of the States, I´m Spanish, where handguns are forbidden. Only cops, military and special security guards can get them. And I Like it, I know nobody can shoot me when I´m walking on the street... I´ve never seen only one shot in all my life. The less guns you have, the less death you´ll have.

Interestingly, I lived in Brooklyn my whole life, even when crime was rampant, and I've never seen someone shot in my whole life either, so that's not much of a metric then. And no, you don't know that no-one can shoot you when you're walking down the street, unless Spain has discovered some way to make sure all criminals do not have guns, which I think would have made headline news somewhere.
So I guess you walk down the street, pretending that no-one can shoot you. That's ok, I hope your whole life you never bump into the person who does have a gun and decides he wants somethign you have, and you get to live a life without that worry. Me, I have a family that it's my responsibility to protect. BTW, you're screenname is considered profane in the US, most sites will likely delete your blogs.
